At Frontier GeoSciences, it's all about the trace elements.
"We measure toxic metals in things like soil, water and air," says Robert Brunette.
So you'll find plenty of people wearing white coats, but no labs in the lab - maybe just a beagle named Bailey on the second floor.
Study after study has shown people who own pets tend to be happier, calmer, and healthier. Now employers say they're also helping their workers be more productive.
"All my friends are impressed that we can bring dogs to work," says M.B. Miller at Frontier GeoSciences.
A recent survey found 20% of companies now have pet-friendly policies in place so dogs like Harrington can hang out with their people.
"You can tell the mood in the office changes. People get excited," says Brianna Marrah of Parker LePla. Her boss agrees.
"If you've ever owned a dog, you know how much joy they bring you and they think you're great no matter who you are," says Lynn Parker.
That's why she doesn't mind a pooch or two in the workplace. Not only are they good for morale, but Parker says, "every so often you'll be on the phone with a client and a dog will let out a bark. The client will ask if a dog is there, and that becomes a conversation starter."
Bringing pets to work is also considered a huge perk. Employers say workers enjoy it so much, it actually helps with hiring and keeping workers.{flvremote}http://s3.amazonaws.com/frontiergeosciences/Q13Fox.flv{/flvremote}
"We try to make it as comfortable for our staff," says Brunette.
And dogs like Bailey feel right at home, at work.
"It gets her out of a lot of trouble - that face," says MB Miller. "I have had to buy other co-workers lunches before because she will get into pizza and sandwiches and stuff . She's a good scrounge."
And she's good company, at the company.
"Our furry friends are good for our blood pressure too I think," says Brunette.
So other than their charm, what do pets actually bring to the workplace?
According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, a lot:
* 73% of companies polled said pets create a more creative and productive work environment.
* 96% said pets improved relationships in the office.
* 27% saw a drop in absenteeism.
* 58% of employers said their workers were more willing to work extra hours because they didn't have to rush home to their pets.
* 92% of companies that allow pets say they have fewer smokers.
