In August 2008, President Bush signed into law the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), which requires manufacturers of children’s products to test and certify their products for lead. As of February 10, 2009, children’s products may not contain more than 600 ppm of lead. Starting August 14, 2009, children’s products may not contain more than 300 ppm of lead. The lead limit will likely lower to 100 ppm by 2011 if determined to be technologically feasible.As leading experts in trace metals analysis in a variety of products, Frontier Global Sciences has the equipment and experience to analyze your Children’s Products for lead and other metals to assist you in complying with these new requirements.
Frontier utilizes some of the most thorough and accurate methods available for measuring lead and other trace metals in any type of sample. Our reporting limits are lower than other commercially available methods which helps minimize false positive results that could be detrimental for your compliance with the regulations.
Frontier is able to report results down to the reporting limit you require so long as it is above our current reporting limits. For the purposes of complying with the February 10, 2009 requirements, we recommend reporting down to at least 60 ppm to ensure that you will not exceed the 600 ppm requirement. Furthermore, this allows you to have advance warning of any problems you may have dealing with the lower limit of 300 ppm in August 2009 or 100 ppm required by 2011.
